Re: Shock replacement - Can a novice like me do it?

The lower front bolts are spot welded in place on 66-67. If the bolts break loose or snap off you can knock them out and replace with a heat treated bolt.  You can do the shock replacement with no prolems and you won't have to raise the car too much, they will angle out fine. Worse case is the top nut being frozen. I've had to cut the nut off a few times, but that is no big deal since you'll be throwing them away.   The rear is a bit trickier to do for the upper nut, but if you can't get them off you can use a vice grip to hold the shaft and turn until the nut twists the shaft off.
