Re: Hay dan_6776 did you dry test your R&P set up? if not you need to.

Got mine from Jegg's...free shipping. Mine were Borgeson. I can't find the bill for part numbers, but if my memory serves me correctly, off the rack was a 17mm DD x 3/4" DD double u joint, the top was a single u joint, 3/4" DD x 3/4" DD. Measure the output shaft on the rack you are using to confirm size. I would also suggest finding a u joint that can bend sharper in order to make the install easier.

Dan
thanks
WHen you say bend sharper, how can you tell if one has more travel then the other?
I thought all u joints had the same travel?

I believe that different manufacturers u joints will bend to certain angles before they start binding. You would have to check specs. The sharper the bend or the greater the angle, the easier your install will be. With the Galaxie rack swap, it is a short distance between the rack and column so that u joints need to really bend in order to connect the two together.

I'd be interested in a link to a 4.6L installation thread if you have one.

Dan
Got the wiring all figured out and stripped down to just what I need.
After stripping all the stuff I didn't need I ended up with a milk crate full of unused wires.

I have them all labeled and ready to install
Now working on the clutch and slave cylinder , so I can mate the motor and trans
Then wire it

That's awesome! You must be a wiring wiz to figure that out. What are your plans for the ECM and how will you delete the stuff you don't need such as emissions, ABS, PATS, etc...
I'm working on all of this stuff right away.

Dan I'm far from being a whiz. What I did do is use the ford wiring diagram
Foldout sheets . There like 2 ft by 3 ft in size . What the techs use and races out all the wires I didn't need from say the abs motor and lights , etc etc and then pulled all those wires from each connector .

As for emissions I kept the 02 wiring in it.
I'm also using the factory relay box and under hood fuses for now.
But after dieting it I might be able to go with something smaller, need to junkyard hunt
That.

I guess I should start a thread on this and post help to anyone
