Re: unisteer

To my knowledge all of the options out there for the 61-64 Galaxie are based of the GM J-car rack and installing one will reduce your turning radios by about 15%  I am planning to build my own rack using a GM J-car unit and will be modifing it to get a little more turning radios but I will still loose about 7% when it is all said and done.  If you are interested in building your own I can give you tons of info, but if you want a bolt kit I only know what I said about turning radios.

Re: unisteer

Daze, could you please post pics on how to modify the J car rack to improve turning radius. You mentioned something about spacers under the accordian boot of the rack? Thanks

Re: unisteer

I don't have any pix at the moment but I think I can get some.  What you need to do is remove the boot, after that there is a plastic and metal piece that fits in the rack "window"  it is a spacer and travel limiter that is mounted at the bolts and is held on by the tie rod bolts. if you trim the plastic and part of the steel bushings you will get more travel movement.  Some sort of connecting piece will need to be put between the steel spacers so they don't rotate. but other than that its not to difficult.
