I purchased my '67 LTD about 7 months ago. It's a one owner, little old lady's car. It was sold at the local Ford dealer and never left town. The original owner had a warehouse downtown, and she would just rotate cars every so often. She passed away and the kids sold all of the cars.
It's a pretty solid car. Needs a trunk pan, patches on the rear quarters, and there is bubbling under the vynil top. It runs really smooth, no smoke or strange noises. Here is a breakdown of the door data tag and vin:
VIN 7D62Z131154, BODY 63J, COLOR V, TRIM ZU, DATE 09B, DSO 61, AXLE 8, TRANS ULet's see what she tells us...The VIN of 7D62Z131154 decodes as follows:7 = model year: 1967
D = build plant: Dallas Assembly Plant in Dallas, Texas
62 = Body Serial Code: LTD 2-door hardtop, bench seats (48,803 produced during the 1967 model year) *
Z = engine: "390 Thunderbird Special V-8", 390-4V, 315 hp @ 4600 rpm, 427 lb-ft @ 2800 rpm, 10.5:1 compression ratio
131154 = Consecutive Unit Number (CUN): 31,154th Ford car scheduled to be built at the Dallas Assembly Plant during the 1967 model year (Job 1 was CUN 100001)
The production data of 63J V ZU 09B 61 8 U decodes as follows:BODY 63J = Body Style Code: LTD 2-door hardtop, bench seats (48,803 produced during the 1967 model year) *
COLOR V = exterior paint color: Burnt Amber (bronze metallic)
TRIM ZU = interior trim color, material and front seat style: light parchment "Heath Tricot" pattern cloth cushions and pastel parchment "Crinkle" grain vinyl bolsters and back, bench seat
DATE 09B = scheduled build date: Thursday, February 9, 1967
DSO 61 = District Sales Office: car was originally ordered through the Dallas, Texas district sales office, which covered northern Texas (except Panhandle)
AXLE 8 = rear axle ratio, type, and ring gear diameter: 2.75:1 open (non-locking), 9"
TRANS U = transmission type and shift location: C6 Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic, column shift*
Over the years, you may have seen a production figure of 46,036 LTD 2-door hardtops built during the 1967 model year, but amazingly enough, Ford neglected to include the units built at the Oakville Assembly Plant (located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada) in this "total"! The actual number produced is therefore 2,767 units higher at 48,803.Of the 48,803 LTD 2-door hardtops built during the 1967 model year, this car is:
- 1 of 11,550 with the 390-4V engine, an installation rate of 23.67%
- 1 of 11,475 with the 390-4V/C6 powertrain, an installation rate of 23.51%
- 1 of 2,794 painted Burnt Amber Blue, an installation rate of 5.73%
This is going to be a slow process for a couple of reasons: 1. We are in the process of selling our house and building a new place. That said I don't want to have to move the car around in pieces. 2. My oldest son is very active in baseball. That keeps us out of town quite often. If you guys can bare with the snail's pace on this one I'll be glad to share it here. And now.....let the pics begin!

This is what I'm working on for it at the moment. Disc brake conversion using spindles and 12" rotors off of a '72 Marquis donor I found at the local pick-n-pull. This car was for sale on craigslist and had a recent brake job, so lucky catch there. I have reman master cylinder, reman calipers, new brake lines, used proportioning valve, and a new brake booster to start this conversion.
Picked up this Edelbrock Streetmaster 390 intake on eBay. I plan to do the "race" port and polish instructions that they included with the intake back in the 70's.
Just to get things rolling I have done a Petronix coil, electronic ignition, and plug wires.
Suspension is going to be a big undertaking. I have pieced together a polyurethane front end kit using Energy Suspension parts. A '79 T-Bird at pick-n-pull donated a larger front sway bar and a rear sway bar. I will have to do some fabrication to make these work, but it's a cheap upgrade. I am leaning towards coil over suspension so I can get that in-the-weeds look and handling better than a barge.

Looks like a fun project. Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting all the pix!! The heavy front sway bar is a fantastic upgrade!! Not sure about the 67 cars but my 62 came with a 5/8" sway bar. Might as well not have been there at all as it didn't do much. I upgraded to a 1" and man what a difference. So much so that it gave me false reading when I was reworking my suspension.

Thanks!
I want to say the 67 has a 5/8 bar as well, it's puny. The one I pulled from the T-Bird is 1 1/8, that should help quite a bit.
