Hi Guys,
I'm a newbie to your forum but I have a question to ask. The C6 in my '69 Merc Colony Park wagon is clunking and slipping. I was looking through my local classifieds and saw a few low mileage C6s that were from 460 cid cars. Would these work in my '69 Merc? The 429/460 transmission bolt patterns should be the same right? Are there any years of C6s I should look for OR stay away from? I really want to get my wagon back on the road.
Thanks!!!

first of all welcome to the forum!!! Sorry it took me a few days to get to this question, I am not as familiar with the 385 series of engines or the C6. I did some looking and the 429 and the 460 do have the same bolt pattern. there is also a 370 in that big block series. So any C6 currently behind one of those should work ALSO the M series of engines should have the same bolt pattern so a 351M or a 400 could also be a possible donor. I believe that the internals on all the C6 transmissions were basically the same so it should simply come down to milage and condition once you are sure the bolt pattern is correct. Keep in mind all this info is second hand. It should be accurate but having never personally messed with a C6 or a 385 series engine I am not 100% sure what I have written is accurate although it should be OK because what I was seeing from lots of sites seemed to be the same.
