i have a 61 mercury that needs a hood. the 61-62 galaxies hood looks similar. will the galaxie hood interchange?

yes they will interchange. The fenders will also interchange

i have checked with the hollender books and they don't show an interchange. ford part # c2az16612b, mercury # c1my16612f. crites doesn't show his hood for a 62 galaxie fitting the 61 full size meteor. is there some kind of modification to make it fit such as different hinges or latches? some forums say they interchange and another says there is a 5" difference in length. i appreciate your input

I wasn't thinking Galaxie to Mercury, I was thinking 61 gal to 62 gal. Sorry I missed that in your earlier post. From the pix I have seen I still think you could make it work, but couldn't say for sure.

According to the FoMoCo parts interchange, the hoods from a Galaxie will not work on a Mercury. Also, as far as Mercury goes, 61 and 62 hoods do not interchange either.

i found a ford hood to measure and it was 1 3/4" short, purchased a disc with the ford and mercury 1960-1964 parts info with part # and pictures. 61 hood is different from 62, the difference is the front edge and the moldings. you can use the 62 hood on a 61 if you use the 62 moldings. i did finally locate a good 61 hood
