Hi I am new at being a Galaxie owner been a 1972 Gran Torino owner since 1987. I just bought my first galaxie and was wondering what the difference was between the 500 and 500xl my car came with rocker molding fender skirts and the pedal type door handles and bench seat. the dash has the slot for the swing away steering column but not the swing away steering column can any one tell me if I have a special order car or was these items also available on the 500

I assume you know, that unlike your Torino, there is no equivlaent to the Marti report for Fords prior to the '67 model year. If you don't have the factory service manual set yet, you can gain some a few general clues about the core configuration via:
