Hey guys after installing my roof rail seal in the fastback I got to looking at it again,,,is there some kind of strip that goes between the metal bracket the seal goes into and the body of the car?? you know like is there something that gets sandwiched between the two??

Are you talking about the grove between the drip rail and the roof of the car??

It looks like there's something ..some kind of material under the bracket the roof rail striping goes into...

Again not sure the exact location you are talking about but assuing it is the grove between the drip rain tand the roof of the car than the material in question is seam sealior. it is put on prior to paint.
